vivo OriginOS 7 Transforms Daily Multitasking with Fluid Motion Magic

Vivo has released the latest iteration of its Android 17 based software skin, under the banner of ‘OriginOS 7, vivo has sought to deliver less of an upgrade to its core software and more of a manifesto on how a phone should feel as we move and live with it. Launching globally after its announcement with the X500 series in China, and now available in preview form to certain devices in India, Thailand, and Malaysia among other places, the new OS aims to be clued into our thinking over the contents of our appdrawer and the direction of our swipes.

In the heart of the experience is Origin Workbench, the core application. Rather than the traditional game of opening one application closing then searching for the next one, the system allows you to keep five different applications open in one communal space. You can export a high resolution video while talking to someone on the phone, edit some notes, read a book all without having to maximize and minimize windows to access each task. It makes the phone more like a small desk top and can be handy when multiple light tasks are the order of the day.

The visual aspect of OriginOS 7 is rooted firmly in physics. Origin Animation sees animated UI elements stretch, bounce, and stick smoothly in response to the velocity and velocity of your finger. Even a gallery slider can feel like softly jiggling jelly. Cards animate with a meta-physical hand of gravity when touched and moved. Spring Animation applies one physics profile throughout the entire systemso you see the same motion whether you are swipe a home screen page, exiting an app or pulling down the control centre. The degree of polish in the interface remains subtle but catches the eye; it is the sort of thing that even the people who cannot quite articulate what is off-putting about a device will comment on positively.

At the kernel level vivo has remade several of its “core” systems. Ultra Core Computing moves workload to wherever it needs to be based upon the game, multitasking needs or prolonged video playback. Vivo claims a ten percent lower app cold start time, plus an eleven percent improvement in page switch time. Memory Fusion modifies the way the system owns and releases memory, offering up to 60 percent faster clearing with 25 GB of additional available space on a 256 GB phone, per vivo. Extended dual rendering pipeline delivers around a 14 percent overall efficiency boost, per vivo, resulting in silky smooth animations given the phone has been in personal hand use for years. Vivo designed this to be a software ready “anti aging” journey of 72 months in vivo labs.
