Your customers are looking for you on social media, not just your products. For lifestyle brands, content creators are the new middle man in brand discovery, trust and purchasesocial commerce features make it simple to convert videos, livestreams and recommendations into measurable revenue.
This can also be seen very clearly in the mid-ticket lifestyle products, where a consumer would generally want more assurance than for an impulse purchase but not spend days or weeks researching their purchase. Categories such as fashion beauty wellness, house hold items and travel related products all seem to be leveraging creators within content to show how the product will integrate into your life.
It’s much easier thanks to social commerce. TikTok Shop, Instagram product tags, affiliate storefronts and shoppable video tools mean creators can directly link products to their content. Rather than discover a product in a clip and then look elsewhere for it, consumers are increasingly able to go from discovery to product page with a couple of taps. The company says creator-driven commerce is set to become a bigger factor in the social shopping path in 2026.
The creator’s role is evolving as well. As creators have traditionally been used to inspire awareness of a brand, the buy happened elsewhere. New commerce tools keep creator activity front and center by tying clicks, affiliate commission tags and completed orders to specific pieces of content.
To the consumer, the attraction is partly familiarity and context. The traditional ad can tell a buyer what it does: the creator can show how it looks; how it operates; the use it is put to. This particular difference can be quite important for lifestyle products.
Short-form video continues to be a key enabler of this behavior. Sites that have integrated shopping features into existing entertainment and discovery formats include TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. 4 TikTok’s Shop marketing platform merges creatorgenerated content with product tags and links, an affiliate program, and live shopping, enabling creators to monetize their content and brands to target relevant audiences in a native and authentic way.
But creator content cannot always lead directly to an instant buy. Shopify observed that when people conduct social commerce, they often seek out reviews, scan through comments and compare what other creators have said. That implies that creators could be critical to initiating the buying journey, and reviews and social proof are what ultimately seals the deal.
Facilitating Creator-Driven commerce brands are also placing more resources into vertical social platforms with tools to aid the creation of creator-based commerce. New social commerce platforms can be used by brands to discover creators, sell products to them and track affiliate payments and the shopping behaviour of followers. Some platforms now also include tools that integrate customer relationship management, affiliate tracking and revenue attribution.
